Bledsoe Drive Parking Lot
Project: Bledsoe Drive Parking Lot
Location: University of Florida, Gainesville, Florida
Client: University of Florida
Budget: $251,000
Time Frame: 2004-2005
This project involved the design and permitting of a new 148-space parking lot on the University of Florida campus, adjacent to the west side of Bledsoe Drive and north of the SW Recreational Fields. This fast-track project needed to be completed over the summer schedule to minimize impacts to students during the busy fall and spring semesters. It was designed, permitted, and constructed within 7 months, which was 1 month ahead of schedule. The design included parking lot lighting, telecommunications (Blue Light phones), landscaping, and stormwater management facilities. The project was permitted through the St. Johns River Water Management District. BCI was authorized to begin design & permitting on May 20, 2004 and the project was permitted by SJRWMD on July 19, 2004 (less than 2 months). Construction began in August 2004 and the lot was substantially complete and occupied by November 2004.
