UF 34th St. Student Parking Facility

The University of Florida desired a new Bus Transfer / Parking / Bike Storage Facility on the west edge of the UF campus, and turned to Brown & Cullen Inc. to provide the consulting design services. The facility is located west of the intersection of SW 34th Street (SR 121) and Hull Road in Gainesville, Florida. Situated on 15 acres, this parking facility with 703 parking spaces, a bicycle parking area, and bus transfer station was constructed to provide parking for those students who commute to the University. In conjunction with the parking lot and bus facility, and extension of Hull Road was constructed from SW 34th St. to the facility. BCI designed the roadway extension, including new signalization at the State Road intersection, and permitted the extension and signalization with FDOT. Extensive stormwater management facilities for the project were designed to conform to the University of Florida Stormwater Master Plan, the St. Johns River Water Management District standards, FDOT criteria, and the City of Gainesville Hogtown Creek discharge criteria. The project included an architectural component, designed by a BCI sub-consultant to provide a visually appealing focal point for the project at the main entry into the facility. The project was completed on-time and within budget.
