Depot Park

Project: Depot Park

Location: City of Gainesville - Downtown

Client: Gainesville CRA

Budget: $5,000,000 (Phase 2)

Time Frame: 2014-2016

Depot Park is a groundbreaking new “Central Park” initiative for the Gainesville downtown. The 33-acre site is an industrial Brownfield reclamation project, which required substantial environmental remediation efforts. The project is named for Gainesville’s oldest train station that dates back to the late 1800’s and was restored during the first phase of the project as a central component of the park. JBPro was involved as the primary civil engineering consultant for both the overall Depot Park project and the historic Depot Building restoration project, which began in the Fall of 2011. The Phase 2 park improvements include a modern children’s play area, an interactive fountain, a promenade around the master stormwater pond, pedestrian and bike trails including a section of the multi-use Depot Rail Trail, and significant hardscape, landscape, and lighting improvements. Depot Park is scheduled to open in late spring 2016.
