The Gainesville Senior Recreation Center is a $5,000,000 improvement project to introduce new facilities to the City of Gainesville’s Northside Park. The primary component of the project is a 16,000 SF Senior Recreation Center building, designed to fit in amongst the existing park’s recreation facilities. The project included significant parking lot improvements and active recreational facilities for the park. Brown & Cullen provided the original master planning of the site and the design and permitting of all the site facilities. The design scope included parking facilities to accommodate approximately 100 vehicles, outdoor recreation facilities, potable water & wastewater improvements, wet detention stormwater management systems, and offsite roadway improvements. The extensive permitting effort included: City of Gainesville site plan review, Gainesville Regional Utilities (GRU) utility permitting, Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Roadway Connection permitting, FDOT Drainage Connection permitting, FDOT Utility Crossing permitting, Florida Department of Environmental Protection NPDES permitting, and a St. Johns River Water Management District Environmental Resource Permit for stormwater management.
