UF Golf Course Stormwater Master Plan

This project involved the stormwater improvements associated with the renovation of the University of Florida’s campus golf course. The project garnered national attention when it was featured in a Sport Illustrated article series focusing on the golf course re-design. The University of Florida Golf Course is located on 114 acres in the Northwest corner of the campus, bordered by SW 34th Street and SW 2nd Avenue. Originally constructed in 1921, the heavily tree-lined golf course with its softly rolling terrain and over 140 bunkers was revitalized with an updated design, new maintenance facilities, a state-of-the-art irrigation system and many stormwater improvements. The golf course renovation project was led by Bobby Weed Design, and Brown & Cullen was the engineering design consultant responsible for grading and drainage design, master stormwater management, and project permitting. Design effort included numerous layout studies in coordination with the golf course architect, coordination with the University Review Committees, a stormwater management master plan complete with a stormwater pumping station, and extensive St. Johns River Water Management District permitting. The design and permitting work provided by BCI President Jay Brown was featured as the lead story in one of the Sports Illustrated articles chronicling the golf course renovation.
