GRU Material Standards

Following on the success of BCI’s development of the GRU Design Standards & Construction Details Manual, Brown and Cullen was hired again by Gainesville Regional Utilities (GRU) to update their Material Standards Manual, which was due to be revised. The new Material Manual included all approved materials for GRU’s water, wastewater, and reclaimed water utility systems. The Manual also included an approval process for introducing new materials, National Standards, Specification Drawings, and Manufacturer installation instruction references. The Material Standards included a new user friendly interface that incorporated pictures of the materials; approved manufacturers; GRU stock numbers; material descriptions; applications; and standards for each material item. The project was organized utilizing state-of-the art database and web management tools that enabled the Manual to easily be integrated into the GRU website in a user friendly format. A User Manual was also developed by BCI to assist GRU personnel in implementing the Manual.
